Burris Eliminator III LaserScope

Burris Eliminator III

The Burris Eliminator III Laserscope brings high tech military range finding scope type technology to civilian hunters and shooters. The Eliminator accurately measures the range to a target and automatically adjust for bullet trajectory based on your ammunition. Burris offers a 750 yard ballistics chart with most available ammunition listed. Use this chart for setting up the scope.

If you have the Eliminator III scope on your AR 308 or AR-10 rifle let us know what you think of it in the comment area below.

Burris Eliminator III LaserScope 4-16x50mm

The Burris Eliminator III LaserScope is the most innovative and effective hunting riflescope in the world. Combining outstanding optics, pinpoint laser rangefinding, and precision trajectory compensation for the exact ammunition you choose for your hunt, it eliminates most of the variables and guesswork that often cause hunters to go home empty-handed. In one fast sequence the Eliminator III determines the distance to your target, factors in your trajectory and illuminates the perfect holdover. It’s that simple.

The Burris Eliminator III significantly extends the range and accuracy of your favorite rifle. No other riflescope combines the level of quality, technology, accuracy, repeatability, speed and effectiveness. It will greatly increase the distance at which you can make an ethical shot.

Burris Eliminator III Quick Start Instructions

Download the Burris Eliminator 3 Quick Start Guide

  1. Before you begin, make sure to have your Drop Number and BC selections ready to enter. More details on finding Drop Number and BC can be found in the “Program the Eliminator For Your Specific Cartridge” section of the manual (page 10).
  2. To enter Set-Up mode, push and hold the Forward button first, then press one of the On/Range buttons and hold them down simultaneously for six seconds, then release.
  3. The first number that appears for two seconds is the software version. Next, the display shows the Y (yards) or M (meters) and the current Ballistic Table. Push the Forward button (within 30 seconds). You are now in the Table Select mode.
  4. Push the Up button or Down button to select Y or M (yards or meters). Push the Forward button to confirm your selection.
  5. The Drop Number will now be flashing. Press the Up button to increase it, or the Down button to decrease it. When the Drop Number you want is flashing, press and release the Forward button to advance to BC selection.
  6. The BC selection will now be flashing. Most BC numbers are preceded by a decimal point, but not here. Press the Up button to increase it or the Down button to decrease it. When the BC number you want is flashing, press and release the Back button to save your choice. The scope will now automatically return to shooting mode, and you are ready to start shooting.

Burris Eliminator Quick Tips

  • To turn your scope on, press one of the On/Range buttons.
  • Regardless of which unit you’re working with (yards or meters), the Drop Numbers are based on drop at 750 yards when zeroed at 100 yards.
  • The crosshair center must be used for ranging.
  • The scope will display the Range to your target, and a 10 MPH Windage Offset at the top. The Windage Offset simply indicates how many dots to hold into the wind with a 10 MPH wind. After 10 seconds the unit, range, and battery status icons go off, but the Holdover Dot and Windage Offset will continue to be displayed for the entire 90 seconds, but will disappear when you press On/Range or make a magnification change.
  • Verify your Drop Number and BC selection. For longrange shooting, verify the actual drop at 750 yards (686 meters). We recommend you set the scope at maximum magnification and shoot a group. If your group is low, increase the Drop Number by the number of inches it is low. If the group is high, decrease the Drop Number by the number of inches high.
  • During normal operation, the brightness of the reticle illumination can be increased by pressing the Up button and decreased by pressing the Down button.
  • If the range to the target cannot be determined, the scope will display four horizontal lines in the range display area along with 100-yard increment Holdover Dots so the reticle
    is still usable.
  • If you are unable to determine the distance to a target, check for obstacles between the scope and the target, such as grass, twigs, leaves, rain or snow, and mist or other airborne debris. It’s also wise to check for a dirty objective lens, poor target quality due to lack of reflection, low battery life, or anything that is making your hold unsteady.

NIKON BLACK X1000 6x14x50SF AR-10 SCOPES

NIKON BLACK X1000 6x14x50SF AR-10 SCOPE

To me it appears Nikon is phasing out the M-308 series dedicated 308 scopes. Possibly replacing them with new “X1000 Black Series“. Overall specifications are improved while maintaining the most popular price point. Nikon seems to be promoting their lifetime warranty as well. No doubt the new BLACK X1000 scopes are in direct response to Vortex scopes massive popularity. We look forward to some hands on with the Nikon Black X1000 6x14x50SF very soon.

The Nikon Black X1000 6x14x50SF scope is ideal for most medium to medium long range AR 308 and AR-10 shooters. The 6X on the low might be too much magnification for very close ranges where a 3x bottom end would be better suited.

NIKON BLACK X1000 6x14x50SF AR 308, AR-10 SCOPE

Nikon BLACK riflescope series represents a new category of dedicated optics with models engineered for both precision long-range rifle and the action-gun AR enthusiasts. For the precision rifle shooter, BLACK X1000 models feature MRAD or MOA reticles while AR/MSR shooters can take advantage of rapid-action, close-to-intermediate-range targeting capability of the BLACK FORCE1000 riflescope and SPEEDFORCE reticle.

NIKON BLACK X1000 6x14x50SF AR-10 SCOPE

NIKON BLACK X1000 6x14x50SF AR-10 SCOPE

The 4-16x50SF is a dedicated precision riflescope that offers the precision, the features and the ruggedness serious shooters demand. For starters, it is built with an aircraft grade aluminum alloy 30mm main body tube. With a choice of X-MOA, Illuminated X-MOA or Illuminated X-MRAD reticle, the riflescope delivers 90 total MOA internal adjustment travel for the X-MOA reticle and 25 MRAD for X-MRAD reticles. Its turrets have ¼ MOA or .1 MRAD click graduations yielding 12 MOA / 5 MRAD per revolution depending on variant. All of the 4-16x50SF models have the reticle placed in the riflescope’s second focal plane, so all holdover corrections, ranging and other measurements using the indicated reticle subtensions should be done at 16x magnification.

Nikon’s Illuminated X-MOA and X-MRAD Reticles

NIKON BLACK X1000 6x14x50SF AR-10 SCOPE RETICLES

NIKON BLACK X1000 6x14x50SF AR-10 SCOPE RETICLES

Specialized reticles and adjustment systems in BLACK X1000 are glass-etched MRAD or MOA tactical-style variants with illuminated option. Windage and elevation turret internal travel is enhanced for long-range dialing and crisp, click-stop movements operate with no backlash and are both precise and repeatable. The X-MRAD reticle presents the shooter with clean and visually simple, yet highly functional and advanced tools for estimating range, maintaining holdovers or dialing elevation come ups and compensating for wind. An advantage of using these tactical-style reticles is that it can be applied to virtually any shooting application regardless of caliber or ballistic performance, and can be further optimized for specific shooting situations utilizing Nikon’s Spot On Ballistic Match Technology.

Full Multilayer Coatings On All Air-to-Glass Surfaces

With a very capable four-time zoom optical system built with Nikon’s renowned lead- and arsenic-free glass, BLACK X1000 lenses are fully multicoated with anti-reflective compounds for consistently bright, sharp, high contrast sighting at all magnifications.

Turret-mounted Side Focus Parallax Adjustment

Each of the riflescopes in this series features a turret-mounted side focus parallax adjustment to enable fine-tuning of the sight image without changing shooter’s position.

Generous, Consistent Eye Relief and Elevated Windage & Elevation Turrets

Consistent eye relief keeps your brow safe, while the exposed turrets are engraved for maximum readability while offering smooth, repeatable adjustments.
